From 28 to 31 May, families gathered at Flow Granada for a one-of-a-kind Experience Day — a celebration of learning, imagination, and meaningful connection.
Throughout the event, children engaged with thoughtfully curated spaces that drew inspiration from Saudi Arabia’s rich history, culture, and natural landscapes. Rooted in the Reggio Emilia approach, each space was designed to encourage sensory exploration, cultural discovery, and creative experimentation.
Several parents shared, “We’ve never seen anything like this before in Saudi” – a reflection of the depth and intentionality behind every space.
It was a joy to witness the spark in every child’s eyes as they questioned, created, and connected with their environment — and with one another. Whether you joined us in person or are discovering us for the first time, we invite you to journey through some of the magical moments from the day.
Elemental Landscape: A scientific exploration of Nature Forces
In the Elemental Landscapes space, children explored two interconnected environments — the desert and the oasis — through both microscopic and macro perspectives. Using materials such as microscopes, clay, sand, and digital tools, they investigated textures, behaviours, and ecological relationships. In the macro space, children modelled desert terrains and simulated natural forces like wind and water, gaining insight into how landscapes form and change. They then collaborated with digital tools to design their ideal oases, combining scientific understanding with imaginative storytelling. This hands-on exploration nurtured scientific thinking, ecological awareness, and creative expression.
Architecture: Dialogue between Past and Present
In the Architecture space, children explored the interplay of light, shadow, structure, and form, all inspired by Saudi Arabia’s architectural heritage.
By blending traditional motifs with modern design elements, children engaged in building, drawing, and experimenting with materials. These activities helped them understand how architecture influences the way we experience space.
Through light projections, construction, and spatial design, children were introduced to concepts such as symmetry, structure, and scale — laying the foundation for mathematical and physical thinking in a playful and creative way.
Living Heritage: Exploring Culture Through the Senses
In the Living Heritage space, children embarked on a rich sensory journey rooted in Saudi traditions. Using materials such as mineral pigments, cardamom, saffron, and coffee beans — in solid, powder, and liquid forms — they engaged in both scientific and artistic exploration.
As they ground, mixed, and observed these materials transform, children explored colour, texture, and states of matter. Through these hands-on experiences, they deepened their understanding of colour theory and expanded their sensory vocabulary in both Arabic and English.
Most meaningfully, they connected with cultural patterns and symbols — building a sense of identity and belonging through creative expression.
