- Application Procedure & Eligibility
At EtonHouse International School Granada, we welcome students from diverse linguistic backgrounds. Our English as an Additional Language (EAL) Programme provides tailored support for learners who do not speak English as their first language, helping them develop the confidence and skills to fully access the curriculum while building confidence as global communicators.

Our Approach to EAL
Personalised Support
Students entering the school are assessed to determine their level of English proficiency. Based on this, an individualised support plan is created. Depending on each child’s needs, support may include small-group lessons, in-class assistance from EAL specialists, or targeted bridging sessions.
Empowering Confident Communicators
As students progress, scaffolds are gradually removed so they can participate more independently in mainstream classes. Our approach combines high expectations with strong support, encouraging students to engage with academic language, express themselves confidently, and celebrate their multilingual identities.
Ensuring Meaningful Growth
Regular assessments monitor each learner’s development and ensure steady progress. Clear exit criteria guide a smooth transition out of the EAL programme once they are ready. Throughout this journey, we celebrate each child’s achievements—empowering them to achieve fluency in English while continuing to value and take pride in their home languages.
Programme Levels & Structures
At EtonHouse, we understand that every learner’s journey with English is different. That’s why our EAL programme is offered at different levels of support — from foundational to advanced — ensuring each student receives just the right balance of challenge and guidance to thrive both academically and socially.
Our English as an Additional Language (EAL) programme is designed to help students acquire the essential English skills they need to express themselves, communicate socially and understand the curriculum.
We offer two levels of EAL classes, and all non-native English-speaking students will need to take an English Placement Test when joining to understand the type of support they require.
Hours of EAL / Week: ~4 hours/week
Designed for / Goals:
For students who need to strengthen English enough to follow mainstream lessons comfortably. Helps build vocabulary, comprehension, and confidence.
